Demand of the UPPCL employees for an FIR against Trivedi and his supporters for allegedly assaulting sub divisional officer (SDO) of the power corporation Arvind Kumar is not fulfilled. However, it seems the enraged employees of the power corporation are in no mood to give up.

In a meeting held here on Thursday, it was unanimously decided by the members of the powermen joint action committee on Thursday to extend their work boycott agitation up to Monday.

Meanwhile, the sit-in staged by the employees on Monday at the Govind Nagar headquarters of the power corporation, continued even today. It was also decided in the meeting that the dharna would continue till FIR was lodged against Mahesh Trivedi.

It may be recalled that SDO Arvind Kumar was allegedly assaulted by Trivedi and his henchmen when the former went to take the meter reading of a rice mill — Jai Hanuman at Pukharya on Sunday.

In another major development, employees of KESCo and Panki have also extended their support to agitating employees of the Kanpur Dehat.

In a separate meeting held at Riverside Power House (RPH) it was decided by the union leaders of the KESCo to extend their full support to the agitating employees of the Kanpur Dehat.

Senior leader Bhagwan Mishra demanded FIR against Mahesh Trivedi and his men, who assaulted the SDO. Employees also urged the State Government to look into the matter and take necessary action against Trivedi and his supporters.

Employees also expressed their resentment against the increasing incidents of attack on employees of the power corporation and also demanded security for them.

Assistant general manager (AGM raid) RK Singh said, “The work boycott agitation has been extended up to January 16 and if FIR is not lodged against Trivedi then power supply of the entire Kanpur zone would be affected.”

The Kanpur zone comprises of six districts including Etawah, Kannauj, Auriyya, Farukhabad, Kanpur district and Kanpur Dehat.

It has been unanimously decided to continue the work boycott agitation till FIR against Trivedi is not lodged, Singh said.
