PROTESTING ATTACKS on power employees during the ongoing raids in some cities, the UP Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti has demanded action against rowdy elements. It also demanded sufficient security for raid teams, failing which, it warned, that it would not be possible to continue the drive against power theft.

In a press statement, Sangharsh Samiti leaders, Shailendra Dubey, AK Singh, Chandra Prakash Awasthi and Girish Pandey said power raid teams had been attacked in Agra, Meerut, Moradabad, Aligarh and some other cities. This, they said, showed that power theft was a matter of law and order and the same could not be tackled without proper cooperation from the police and the district administration. They regretted that the local police personnel accompanying the teams remained mute spectators even as the power officials were being attacked.

The leaders said that power employees were agitated over the incidents. They demanded action against all those who were a party to the attack on the raid teams.
