Senior Communist leader Prabhakar Sanzgiri passed away following brief illness. He was 87 and is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.

He was 87 and is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.

Sanzgiri passed away at his residence in suburban Vikhroli late on Monday night, party sources said.

Sanzgiri was general secretary of CPM-Maharashtra unit for 17 years and had also led various agitations for workers and farm labourers.

His funeral procession would begin from CPM office at suburban Bhandup at 1600 hours on Tuesday, party sources said.
