President, PM greet nation on Guru Parb

President Kalam said on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti and asked the nation to follow his message of honesty.

President APJ Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday greeted the nation on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti and asked them to follow his message of honesty, truthful and virtuous life.

"As we celebrate Guru Nanakji's birthday, let us deeply understand his message of meditation and remembering God, honestly earning through ones physical and mental effort while accepting God's gifts and blessings and to share within society", Kalam said in his greeting.

Singh said Guru Nanak's profound message of leading an "honest, truthful and virtuous life continues to guide and inspire humanity.

"He showed us the path to spiritual salvation and his preachings inspire us to embrace equality, compassion and humanism," he added.
