President APJ Abdul Kalam, the first citizen, on Monday rescheduled his tour to be able to return to New Delhi just before polling in the assembly elections was due to end.
Kalam, who left on Sunday evening to attend Indian Army functions in Pathankot and Mohali towns in Punjab and Hissar in Haryana, advanced his return to Delhi from 7 pm to 4.30 pm on Monday so as to vote.
"He will arrive straight from the airport to the polling booth in the presidential estate," a Rashtrapati Bhavan aide said.
The ballot closes at 5 pm.
This is the first time Kalam is casting his vote since he became president last year.
