When contacted the school principal Usha Dave told Hindustan Times that Malviya, during his recent visit to the City, had chaired a meeting of the principals and had issued orders to merge the two shifts at Malav Kanya High School. For students of class IX to class XII the school has morning and afternoon shifts.
The school has separate students hailing from different backgrounds attending those shifts. Besides, it has a different set of teachers for these shifts.
It is learnt that Malviya, having considered the less number of students thought of combining the two shifts, so that the workload could be less on teachers.
The move is aimed at reducing the burden on school education department regarding appointment and relocation of teachers to schools run without teachers. Usha Dave has made her intention of taking up the matter with the District Education Officer (DEO) Maya Malviya abundantly clear so that students do not suffer. She stated that combining the shifts would go against the government’s objective of providing education to all.
