However, the police have lodged a case against Prof RD Rai and others on complaints of the finance officer for issuing threats and engaging in a scuffle with him.

According to sources, the students of Department of Journalism had reached the FO’s office for redressal of their grievances but the finance officer refused to address their demands. The irate students used then abused the finance officer and sources said that they thrashed the FO.
On Friday, the finance officer reached the department along with police post incharge on the campus Ajit Singh, dragged out several students including Sandeep Singh and Jitendra Kumar and brutally beat them up.
The incident added fuel to the fire and director of Journalism Department Prof RD Rail openly came out in favour of the students. Along with a student, he reached the guest house where the FO is living temporarily and both the officials had a heated argument. Later, they reached the Cantonment police station and handed over complaints to the police to register FIRs.
According to reports, the injured students submitted their medical reports and mounted pressure for lodging an FIR for attempt to murder. They also demanded that a case be lodged against police post incharge Ajit Singh. The finance officer also lodged complaints against Rai and 50 students under various sections of the IPC. The irate students also staged a dharna at the V-C’s residence to register their protest. Talking to Hindustan Times, V-C Prof Arun Kumar said that both the officials should have restrained themselves. Terming the incident as unfortunate, he said that if the FO had any complaints against the students, he should have approached the V-C‘s office.
