THE DISTRICT administration, Seva Saurabh and Indore Municipal Corporation will jointly organise a week-long programme ‘Jhanda Ooncha Rahe Hamara’ to mark Republic Day at Gandhi Hall from January 19.

“Children should know about their nation and a two-hour programme can not inculcate patriotism and sense of belonging towards the nation in children and youth. Thus a series of programmes have been organised for the public,” said Mayor Uma Shashi Sharma while addressing a press conference here today.

Seva Saurabh convener Omprakash Nareda and Uma Shashi Sharma said that a replica of India Gate would be erected at Regal Crossing in the memory of freedom fighters. The programme would start from January 19 with a talk show and a discussion programme to be organised on the next day by Indore Press Club.

A national ‘kavi sammelan’ would be organised by Madhya Bharat Hindi Sahitya Samiti on January 21. A tableau displaying Bharat Mata would also be exhibited by Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya on the same day at Gandhi Hall. A Republic Marathon from Patnipura to India Gate would also be organised by Sahyog Group on January 22, while a play based on the life of Devi Ahilya Bai would be staged on the same day.

Thereafter, a rally of schoolchildren would be taken out on January 23. All Rotary Clubs of Indore would also take out a rally the next day.

A national song competition would be staged by the mute and hearing-impaired children on the same day. On the eve of Republic Day a programme ‘I Love You India’ would be presented by music and dance troupes from Mumbai. The family members of a soldier would be feted at the programme and a lamp would be lighted to commemorate the soldiers who have died during the war.

Tributes would be paid at Amar Jawan Jyoti on the Republic Day. Various other organisations would also take out rallies in their areas.

All the programmes would be conducted between 7 pm and 10 pm at Gandhi Hall and arrangements have been made for the successful execution of the programme. For more details one may contact Additional Collector Rameshwar Gupta and Seva Saurabh convener Omprakash Nareda on telephone number 94250-58180 between 7 pm and 9 pm. An information office for the programme has been set up at Abhinav Kala Samaj, Gandhi Hall.
