Promote students up to class 8, state reiterates

The state government on Wednesday issued a government resolution (GR) reiterating a previous order directing schools to promote students to the next class up to Class 8.

The state government on Wednesday issued a government resolution (GR) reiterating a previous order directing schools to promote students to the next class up to Class 8.

Schools, which had failed students for the academic year 2009-10 will have to promote them to the next class or face action. This is part of the Right to Education (RTE) Act that came into force on April 1.

A government official said fresh GRs repeating clauses contained in the RTE Act are for the purpose of administrative clarity.
