JUNIOR DOCTORS of Gandhi Medical College (GMC), Bhopal and students of People’s Dental College staged a demonstration against reservation at the Karond Bypass today.

Hundreds of anti-reservation students gathered in front of the People’s Dental College at about 9.30 am. They raised anti-reservation slogans asking the Union government to review its decision.

The agitators gathered all around the Karond Square and traffic came to standstill for sometime there. The students then moved ahead towards the Karond railway crossing with the intention to block it.

However, police force deployed in the area prevented the demonstrators to move ahead towards the railway crossing. Subsequently, the agitating students returned without being able to block the railway crossing.

Later the anti-reservation students reached the district court and staged protests there too. Several lawyers also joined in the protests against the proposed reservation and lent their support to the medicos.

Meanwhile, members of the Bhopal Chamber of Commerce and Industries have also come out in support of the anti-reservation students.

A meeting of the Chamber was convened today where the proposed reservation was condemned and the Chamber extended full support to the medicos fighting against it.

Chamber President Santosh Kumar Agrawal, Secretary U S Chaudhary, Junior Doctors Association’s Dr Manish Rawat and Dr Hitesh Sharma, and other members of the Chamber were present at the meeting.
