Protestor attempts suicide over Amarnath row in Jammu

A youth today attempted suicide while participating in a rally against the cancellation of land to Amarnath Shrine Board in the district, police said.

Jitender Kumar consumed poisonous substances at his home in Langralee-Basbigla village and rushed to join the protest rally in RS Pura town, they told PTI.

The 19-year-old boy collapsed while protesting and was shifted to RS Pura hospital and later to GMC hospital, they said.

So far, three people have committed suicide and four have attempted suicide during the 53-day long Amarnath land row in the Jammu region.
