This was the finding of an opinion poll done for Hindustan Times by Cfore in six cities. Over 1,200 people in the 18 to 35 age group were surveyed and Rahul was their overwhelming choice, at 28 per cent.

The next favourite was the option “anyone else”.

To another question many said they wanted the next prime minister to be under 55.

When asked if the largely ceremonial office of the president of India served any purpose, 50 per cent said no.
