Rahul, who sprained his right leg after he slipped while going to the bathroom at the Sanjay Gandhi hospital guesthouse, was attended by Dr Sanjay Tewari.

The Congress MP, who was finding it difficult to walk, hastily concluded his programme of laying the foundation stone of a road at Darsipur village in his constituency without giving a speech, which angered villagers who raised slogans against him.

Rahul walked towards his vehicle immediately after cutting the ribbon without addressing the gathering, which was expecting some announcement by him for the development of the area.

The people shouted Rahul Wapas jao (go back Rahul) as the Congress MP got in his vehicle and went away.

Later, he left for New Delhi cutting short his visit by a day, sources added.
