“I will continue to raise the issues and continue the agitation. Let the government do what it wants. They have arrested me once and seen the consequences,” he said in his address at a huge rally in Thane on Saturday.

In view of the police warning, Thackeray chose not to make any provocative statements but targeted politicians from UP and Bihar accusing them of casteist politics. He also alleged that most of the criminals were coming from a state like UP.

Thackeray slammed news channels, alleging that the latter were blowing every issue out of proportion just for the TRP. “They did not bother to think about national interest while reporting on terror attacks and risking lives of many,” he said and asked why the police did not take action against the channels.

Highlighting the issue of massive unemployment, he asked the unemployed youth to send him letters if they wanted jobs.

Low key UP Diwas

The Uttar Pradesh Diwas celebrations, which was a trigger for MNS violence last year, were low-key with prominent politicians staying away. More than 2,000 people participated in the celebration organised by a group called ‘Abhiyan’ in Santacruz. Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari performed. Another group, Maharashtra –North Indian Co-ordination committee, performed Puja for the people who were killed on the 26/11 attacks.
