Noted artists of Mangania tradition, Kheta Khan and Lakha Khan along with their troupe staged programmes at Sunbeam School in Rohania area today. Spic Macay and Sunbeam had jointly organised the event.
The cultural event started with a folk song ‘Kesaria balam aao padharo mere dwar’. Lakha Khan rendered the devotional song ‘Jiya jal-thal mein dekha tu hi tu’. Ghewarkhan rendered ‘Balam ji aao’, Jhir-mir barse meh’. The audience started tapping their feet on the presentation of ‘Damadam Mast Kalander’.
Besides, the artists filled the atmosphere with spiritualism by rendering devotional song of Meera ‘Girdhar lal mein to sapne mein padne gopal’. Cheers greeted the popular tune ‘Chap Tilak Sab Chini Re, Mose Naina Milake’.
N. Murli played Shehnai whereas Ghewar Khan played traditional instrument Kamacha. Firoz Khan played Dholak while Dhara Khan was accompanying on another traditional instrument Kamaicha.
Earlier, the troop leader Kheta Khan told about the folk art and traditional instruments. He said that they had never used modern musical instruments.
Secretary of the Sunbeam school, Pradeep Madhok welcomed the guests and said, “Music does not recognise the boundaries of caste or country as it was the voice of soul’.
Principal of the school, Rashmi Mohan proposed the vote of thanks and lauded the efforts of troop for disseminating folk art of Rajasthan in various parts of the country and abroad. Director, Puja Madhok, Joint Director, Monika Saraswat Pandey and Manager Dr. Raghuraj Singh presented flowers and shawls to the artists.
