Talking to reporters after a meeting of party workers, Singh said he would make a statement on the issue in Parliament as it is in session.
In a written reply in Lok Sabha on May 5, minister of state for home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary said whereabouts of Dawood were not known to the government and once he was located, his extradition process would be initiated.
"The subject (Dawood) has not been located so far. Extradition process with regard to Dawood Ibrahim would be initiated once the subject is located," he said.
This has generated a lot of controversy with opposition attacking the government and accusing it of embarrassing the country by changing its position on the issue.
