Thousands of Muslims joined the protest from various masjids in the town after the Friday prayers. The rallies were taken out from Jama Masjid, Jaba Khana Masjid, Bhela Colony Masjid and Talabwali Masjid besides other areas.

After passing through various bazaars, protestors, raising slogans against the Border Security Force (BSF), DDC, Ramban SSP, chief Minister Omar Abdullah and security forces, were addressed by various moulvis at Gujjar Mandi chowk.

The protestors also met DDC FC Bhagat and SSP Mubasir Latifi, who also condemned the killings.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made throughout the district to avert any untoward incident.

The protestors, led by Ghulam Rasool, Khatib Jama Masjid, demanded that all persons responsible for firing at people who were protesting against alleged manhandling of a local imam by the BSF personnel, be brought to book.

Rasool announced that a complete bandh would be observed in the entire district on Saturday. Schools, government offices, banks and business establishments would not be allowed to function.

Muslim leaders also appealed the Hindu community businessmen to close their shops and said public transport would not be allowed to ply on roads.

Intelligence agencies warned the administration about some possible clashes in case Hindus did not close their business establishments.

Meanwhile, movement of the security personnel, barring CRPF jawans on security duties, and movement of their vehicles or convoys have been restricted in the entire district.
