“ZINDAGI MEIN shaitani karni chahiye, magar zindagi se shaitani nahin karni chahiye,” says comedy guru Rajpal Yadav.

He wants to live life right.
Rajpal believes that one should not mess up his life and, more importantly, that of others.
He says, “I try not to harm anybody because I believe that by harming others, one cannot be happy. I always follow the principle of live and let live, and that too happily.”
Rajpal is accommodating, but follows certain rules of life religiously. He says, “I believe in humanity and humility. Success should never go to your head. I believe that when you are rising in life, then you should be good to people because you don’t stay at the top forever. Everything that goes up, comes down. So one day while returning by the same path, you’ll meet the same people.”
Despite being successful, he says, “I don’t consider myself a star. I feel like a common man. If I can’t relate to the masses, I am not fit to be an actor. There should be intense communication between an actor and the audience. When people watch a movie, they should feel as if I am sitting right in front of them and talking to them.”
Rajpal is very fond of his family, which lives near Shahjahanpur. He says, “Fifty kilometres from Shahjahanpur, there is a cozy village called Kulra, where my entire family lives. I have a huge joint family. There are 19 members in the family. I did my graduation from Shahjahanpur and then took admission in Lucknow’s Bharatendu Natya Akademi. I was there from 1992 to 1994. Then, I joined Delhi’s National School of Drama. I passed out in 1997.”
About his years in Lucknow, he says, “I lived in a hostel in Gomti Nagar. My daily routine was very busy, but I always had time for plays at Rai Umanath Bali auditorium and Ravindralaya. However, I was like any other student in many other aspects. I never had enough money for outings.”
This multi-dimensional actor has featured in films like Jungle, Darna Mana Hai, Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, Main Meri Patni Aur Woh, Shaadi No 1 and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. At present, he has his hands full.
He says he plays a very different role in an upcoming film Hello Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hai, but refuses to reveal more. He also has a foreign film lined up, but says, “I can’t talk about it right now.”
Further, he says, “I am very fond of cooking. I try and cook whenever I have time. And when I cook, I take everybody out of the kitchen.”
