Rally against atrocities on women taken out

A LARGE number of women took out a public awareness rally against gender inequality, atrocities on women and female foeticide etc., in Varanasi on Friday evening.

A LARGE number of women took out a public awareness rally against gender inequality, atrocities on women and female foeticide etc., in Varanasi on Friday evening.

The rally was taken out under the joint auspices of Bharat Vishal Sansthan, Care India, Guria, Manav Seva Kendra and Gramya Vikas Samiti.

The rally started from Maldahiya crossing and after passing several routes, it culminated at Lahuraveer crossing.

The girls were carrying several pla-cards giving an awareness message to the public.

Rajeev Srivastava of Bharat Vishal Sansthan expressed his grave concern over the increasing incidents of female foeticide. He called upon the people to come forward and weed out such type of ills from the society.

Neelmani Singh, a social worker, said that the decreasing ratio between girls and boys was mater of grave concern.

Prominent among others who addressed the rally were Puja Vedic, Najma Parveen, Archana Singh, Pallavi Srivastav, Aprajita Singh, Naznin Ansari and Wahida Nusrat.
