In a statement, he said the moon of Ramzanul-Mubarak could not be sighted in Delhi on Saturday and Ramzan will therefore begin on September 25.

If there is any change of decision on the basis of some evidence, it will be immediately announced, he added.

The Imam of the Shahi Masjid Fatehpuri, Mufti Mohammed Mukarram Ahmed, also announced that Ramzan would start on Monday.
