Police are probing into the allegations of abduction and gangrape made by a woman against six persons including five sadhus of the Swaminarayan sect of Vadtal (in Bhavnagar), sources said on Friday.
No arrests have been made as yet and officials are probing the allegations based on a complaint filed by the woman, who claimed that six persons had kept her in confinement for four months in different cities, police said.
The victim, a resident of Bagsara taluka of Amreli district, alleged that she was kidnapped while waiting for a bus and fell unconscious after consuming something offered by the abductor, police said.
Later she found herself in the Swaminarayan Temple at Panchala village of Junagadh and subsequently was gangraped by five sadhus and her abductor, she alleged.
She was let off by August-end, following which her family approached the police.
Recently, some of sadhus of Swaminarayan sect of Gadaha town of Bhavnagar were accused of gangraping a pregnant woman.
Allegations of sodomy had also been levelled against sadhus of the same sect in a separate case and a few of them found themselves behind the bars for having filmed a sadhu of a rival group within the sect in a compromising position with a woman.
