He also directed for closure of all the meat shops in Sulem Sarai and Bamrauli.
Addressing a pollution control review meeting here on Friday, Abhijat said in order to stop people from disposing of animal carcasses in the Ganga, the animal carcass disposal plant, installed at the cost of Rs two crore in Kareli, should be made functional again within a week. This was the only high capacity plant in UP, he added.
“The High Court has issued clear instructions for regular cleaning of banks and the areas surrounding the Ganga,” he said.
Abhijat further said all meat shops in Sulem Sarai and Bamrauli should be immediately closed.
Several shops were running in these areas without a license due to the apathetic attitude of the officers concerned.
“The meat shop owners are not given a license near airports in order to avoid incidents of bird hit which can endanger the lives of plane passengers,” he said.
