Sagarika Ghose’s article Wanted: new gatecrashers (January 20) is an objective analysis of the Congress party’s quality of leadership and their style of functioning. The leadership should treat the analysis as constructive criticism. The decline of the Congress to a party of few power hungry leaders and their families is cause for despair. The party must democratise from within to go once again to the masses.

Stepping ashore

The IIMs are no longer centres of excellence. In fact, they have become mere centres of tall claims. The IIMs must realise that they must perfect management research before attempting to set foot abroad. Otherwise,

it will only be a loss of face globally for Indian management institutes. The IIMs have contributed little to bring in path-breaking management and entrepreneurial skills into Indian PSUs.

II

If foreign universities are welcome to set up shop here, why are the benefits of overseas branches denied to the IIMs? The IIM Singapore initiative would help enhance India’s brand image as well as bring in foreign exchange. This in turn can be used to improve the network of business schools in India, which is what the HRD minister desires.

Help the drive

The demolition and decommercialisation drive against illegal properties in Delhi must be supported by all citizens, affected and otherwise, if we are to make Delhi a city worth being the capital of India (Go after politicos, January 19). It is the duty of Resident Welfare Associations, Social Welfare Societies and NGOs to facilitate the drive.

No rebellion here

The editorial Change in Bengaluru (January 20) was thought provoking. The real manipulator behind the scene was H.D. Deve Gowda. It is unthinkable that H.D. Kumaraswamy would rebel against his father.

It was a clever move by Deve Gowda who took the step after he failed to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi after waiting two days in the capital. But with this move, the Janata Dal(S) has lost the moral right to talk about secularism.
