PEEVED ABOUT undeclared power rostering, thousands of residents of two dozen localities gheraoed Buxipur power station. They tried to damage the substation and manhandle officials. Supply to Buxipur, Khoonipur, Diwan Bazar, Beniganj, Ghazi Rauza, Ghasi Katra, Nizampur, Khokhar Tola, Ismailpur and other localities were suspend from 6.05 am to 10.30 pm. No senior official of the UP Power Corporation was present. Police force deployed at Buxipur crossing faced a tough time in controlling the mob.

Bahujan Samaj Party leader Dr Aziz Ahmad and others condemned the apathetic attitude of Power Corporation officials and said people would have no option, but to take direct action if supply to their localities were not restored within an hour. Local MLA Dr RMD Agrawal, who was passing by, was gheraoed by the agitated people at the power house. Supply was restored at 10.30 am.
