RISING TRENDS of the Rapti has caused worries to the Irrigation officials. The pre-monsoon shower during the past one week has resulted in rise in water level of almost all the rivers of Gorakhpur and Basti divisions. However, the officials of the Central Water Commission said that the rise in water level before the monsoon was a temporary phase, and there was no reason to worry about it. The strengthening work of the embankment has also suffered a setback due to heavy rain on regular intervals.
