RJD ditched Congress, says Paswan

"The RJD has badly hoodwinked the Congress which has saved its government on several occasions," Paswan said in Patna.

Claiming that his party had reached a perfect seat-sharing accord with the Congress in Bihar, LJP president Ram Vilas Paswan on Saturday accused ruling RJD of having ditched the Congress "which had saved the state government on several occasions in the past."

"The RJD has badly hoodwinked the Congress which has saved its government on several occasions," Paswan told a press conference in Patna.

Had the Congress not supported the RJD to uphold "secularism" it would have been finished when the NDA government had imposed President's Rule in 1990, Paswan said, recalling the Congress had decided to oppose the NDA government resolution for Central rule in the Rajya Sabha prompting its withdrawal as NDA lacked majority in the Upper House at that time.

He said the Congress had once again saved the RJD after the Assembly poll in 2000 when the latter failed to secure a majority on its own.
