In a letter to the EC, Anand alleged that Mukhi, election in-charge of BJP candidate VK Malhotra, had made some remarks against him at a press conference which were in violation of the model code of conduct.

Anand also criticised Mukhi for making personal attacks, calling him a "habitual defector" and a "resident of Jharkhand", on him.

"BJP symbol may be frozen for violating the code of conduct and further direction be issued to BJP, Malhotra and Mukhi to refrain themselves from making such personal attacks," the Congress leader said.
