RLD candidate to contest Pondy
Pondicherry unit chief of the Rashtriya Lok Dal G Sundaramoorthy announced that he would contest the LS poll in Pondicherry.
President of the Pondicherry unit of the Rashtriya Lok Dal G Sundaramoorthy on Thursday announced that he would contest the Lok Sabha poll in Pondicherry.

He told reporters here that the party high command, headed by Ajit Singh, had authorised him to contest.
Sundaramoorthy said that there was no room for religious fundamentalism to gain ground as secularism should be nurtured at the national level.
Though Vanniyars dominate among voters, there are also a sizeable number of scheduled caste and fisher folk in this constituency.
In the last Lok Sabha polls in 1999, M O H Farook defeated the present PMK nominee, Prof M Ramadoss, who retired as Economic Professor of the Central University here.
The Anglo-French Textile Mill, now alive and kicking, is the only industrial unit worth the name in this union territory, a former French colony. Liquor shops and number of cinema houses are the only other forms of entertainment to the locals here.
The famous Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Post Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) situated here is providing quality health care not only to the locals but to the people of neighbouring districts, falling in Tamil Nadu.
