To achieve these goals, it will increase its adspends from Rs 30 crore in the current year to Rs 50 crore for the next year. It also expects its turnover to go up from Rs 300 crore in 2008-09 to Rs 500 crore in 2010-11.

Arshad Siddiqui, chief marketing officer, Hamdard (Wakf) Laboratories, in an email response to Hindustan Times said, “We have expansion plans for all three segments — consumer, OTC and traditional. We will introduce six umbrella brands in the next financial year, for the consumer and OTC segments, while also launching new products under the traditional ayurvedic and unani category.”

The charitable trust contemplates entering the hair care and personal care space. Separate distribution centres will be set up for all these three categories.

Brand extensions of RoohAfza and Cinkara are also planned, said Siddiqui.
