THE ROTARIANS of the Rotary Club of Indore Professionals (RCP) organised an AIDS awareness Rotary couples car rally today. Eliciting great response from Rotarians the event saw 27 vehicles and was attended by participants ranging from 18 years of age to 65 years.

Eliciting great response from Rotarians the event saw 27 vehicles and was attended by participants ranging from 18 years of age to 65 years. A senior participant won the race. Incidentally, a group of three foreign national Rotarians of UK on a visit to the City witnessed the rally.

According to the rally convenor Gajendra Narang the club had under its international and avowed objectives the eradication of disease through prevention by spreading awareness about the same. The club had played a significant role in the drive for eradicating polio and AIDS was next on their agenda.
The one and a half hour rally traversing a distance of 40 km started at 9 am from Hotel Infiniti, AB Road near Bombay hospital and passed through Bypass, Ring Road, Hotel Utsav, Rau Square, Adinath Petrol Pump, Asaram Bapu Square and ended at the starting point.
The rally not being a speed event was factored on time management and the average speed of participating vehicles varied from 45 km to 80 km depending on congestion of traffic and road condition through the various phases of the event.
55-year-old Prof Dr PK Gupta, a senior faculty at Institute of Management Science (IMS), won the race. Chief guest at the occasion Jitendra Gupta commented that the management guru had excelled in time management. Jitendra Singh Parmar came second and Jitendra Gupta third. The consolation prizes were given to Ritesh Gupta, Vikas Arora, Atul Jhamad and Ravi Nandi.
Artiste Prerna Rathi flagged off the rally and Rotary district governor Ramesh Tiwari was the first to start off amongst the participants and was also present during the prize distribution.
RCP president Nitin Dafariya and rally co-convenor VC Agarwal said that a study group comprising of Rotary district 1130 London members David Deucher, Karen Barette and Marie Sterry under the guidance of group leader Suresh Gupta witnessed the rally.
