While directing the BMC to pay compensation to the baby’s parent’s — Mohan and Mohini Nerurkar — the court condemned the “heartless” attitude of Municipal Commissioner Jairaj Phatak.
Phatak faced severe criticism from the court for the “pathetic” affidavit filed by him wherein he compared the kidnapping of the baby to the loss of valuable items like ornaments, watches and cellphones.
The infant boy was kidnapped from the government-run Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital (Sion Hospital) on January 1.
