A left handed batsman, with elegance, class and sheer skill written all over him every time he comes out to bat, he is highly regarded in the cricketing world as one of the best timers of the cricket ball.
He is the most dynamic batsman in Pakistan line-up. He plays with a flourish and is especially strong in the arc from backward point to extra cover like every left-handed batsman. A tremendous eye, excellent timing and his super aggressive approach to batting has made him one of the Top five batsman in the World. Excitement is never in short supply when this man is at the crease.
This adhesive left-handed batsman also holds the world record for the highest score in a limited overs International match. He broke Viv Richards record of 189, when he scored a magnificant 194 off just 146 balls with 22 fours and 5 sixes against India at India's Independence Cup Tournament at Chennai.
He made is one-day International debut against West Indies in Perth in 1989 , but failed to establish his place in the team till 1993. Since then he has been a specialist opener for Pakistan.
One of the senior members of the Pakistan side, he was given the honour of leading Pakistan twice. Now Pakistan cricket is in bad shape and he must carry Pakistan through this rebuilding phase.
