Samita Bangargi turns designer

The actor will soon launch her exclusive boutique also, reports Johnny D.

Samita Bangargi is all set to launch her designer label. She is currently touring London with hubby Aashish, who is shooting for his films.

Speaking from London, Samita confirmed the news. She adds, “I have been designing my clothes since my college days. After the marriage, I decided that I should fulfill my long desired dream. Aashish supported my idea and I will be floating my brand once I am back.”

How will she be different from the other designers? She informs, “My brand will be more wearable. The brand name will be Sosam! My prêt collections will be more like an ensemble of daily and party wear. I plan to promote my brand by tying up with various stores in Mumbai initially. By the end of this year, I will be open my exclusive boutique.”

What made her shift her focus from acting towards designing?

Sam, as she is popularly known to all her friends discloses, “I have been very selective about the kind of films I do. I don’t wish to be part of too many films. My last film was Ramji Londonwale and I am proud of the fact that I am not desperate to prove myself like others. Designing had been a passion with me since I was in college. After marriage, I realised that I should be doing something creative and constructive. So here I am!”

What made her name the label as Sosam? “Well! Actually, I would like to describe my brand as something, which is cool, ethnic, subtle and comfortable to wear. My brand would be an extension of me. Cool and so Sam,” she concludes. She is still negotiating and placing orders with different foreign couture houses in London to get her brand collections, Sam will be back in Mumbai by month end. From June onwards, Sosam will be on shelf for one and all to check her designing.
