Pakistan's off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq faces disciplinary action after he allegedly misbehaved with coach Javed Miandad and manager Haroon Rasheed, officials said on Friday.

Saqlain will be appearing before a three-member disciplinary committee headed by Justice (retired) Amir Alam on Wednesday.

"It's a serious matter and Saqlain has been asked to appear before the disciplinary committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board on October 29," PCB chief executive Ramiz Raja said.

"We will take a lenient view if he (Saqlain) apologizes, keeping in mind his services for the Pakistan cricket," Raja said.

The 27-year-old Saqlain was among the eight players dropped from Pakistan's squad after their first round exit from the World Cup in March this year.

He was recalled for Pakistan's third Test against Bangladesh at Multan last month but got only two wickets as Pakistan outlasted their opponents by a single wicket.

He failed to take a single wicket in the third one-day against South Africa at Faisalabad earlier this month and was dropped from the Test squad.

When contacted Saqlain confirmed he would appear before the committee but refused to add further.

Saqlain, who also plays for Surrey in the English county championship, has taken 207 wickets in 48 Tests. He has 288 wickets in 169 one-day matches.

He has one year left with Surrey and if banned his career may end abruptly as the common opinion is that he lagged behind Sri Lankan Muthiah Muralitharan and India's Harbhajan Singh.
