Dalbir Kaur meets the Congress President, seeking her intervention in getting a reprieve for her brother who has been served a death warrant in Pakistan.

Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh's sister Dalbir Kaur on Tuesday met Congress President Sonia Gandhi, seeking her intervention in getting a reprieve for her brother who has been served a death warrant in Pakistan.

Kaur, who is meeting political leaders in the capital in an effort to drum up support for her brother, said Gandhi told her that she has spoken to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on the issue.
"Sonia Gandhi assured me of her maximum support on the issue," she said after the meeting.

"She (Gandhi) assured me that the Indian Government will approach Pakistan government at the highest levels in the matter," Kaur said. Kaur also met Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee. She has sought an appointment with the Prime Minister. Kaur had met AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi yesterday, appealing to him to take up her brother's cause with the government.
