Earlier, polling passed off peacefully.

Around 50 per cent voters of the total 6670 exercised their franchise and sealed the fate of 48 candidates in the fray. The election was held for the posts of president, vice president, general secretary, library secretary and faculty representatives.

As many as 34 candidates were in the fray for the posts of president, vice president, general secretary and library secretary, while 14 were in the fray for the posts of faculty representatives.

A total of 19 polling booths had been set up on the old campus, out of which three were meant for female voters. The polling began at 8 am and continued till 2 pm.

The voters were given entry from the main gate of the old campus after presenting their latest fees receipts and identity cords. Elaborate security arrangement had been made by the administration in and around the campus.

Police, PAC, RAF and proctorial board personnel were deployed at sensitive points in and around the campus to ensure security. A magistrate and a DSP were also monitoring the security on the campus.

Outside, vehicular traffic had been restricted from the Railway Station to Sajan cinema. Vehicles were diverted via Maldahiya crossing. Later, traffic was restored on the old route from 2 pm.
