DEMONSTRATIONS AND strikes would be in news in the third and last weeks of the month, as the State Bank of India and its associate banks would take resort to these modes of protest, to press their demands.
The SBI Employees and Officers Associations would stage a demonstration at Local Head Office on March 21, as a token of protest against management’s failure to consider their decade old demand on pension and other related issues. SBI Officers’ Association’s general secretary Ravi Bilgaiyyan said the unions had decided to be more assertive due to bank management’s apathy towards their demand.
The bank union is thinking to go on an indefinite strike from April 3, he said. Tomorrow’s demonstration would be staged from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm.
Meanwhile, the associate banks of the SBI would observe nationwide strike on March 28. State Bank of Indore Employees Association’s president JP Jhanwar alleged that the parent bank SBI had failed to convene meeting for the last five years – a must for the associate banks. “We’ve sought intervention of the SBI Chairman,” he said.
