Here’s the car of the future. Brought to you by four teenage schoolboys who worried over the “looming energy crisis”. The car, which runs on solar energy, has been christened Fusobat, short for fuel cell, solar cell and battery.
Meet Hem Rampal, Shaswat Gupta, Divyam Nagpal (Class XI) and Harswardan Singal (Class X) of Modern School, Barakhamba Road the teens behind this vision car. This hydrogen cell “immortal car” as the boys name it can also be controlled with a specially-designed computer programme.
The car was on display in the Junior Science Project section at IIT-Delhi’s annual fest, Tryst 2006 recently. The team won the first prize at this first-of-its-kind contest held at IIT. But it were the rave reviews that the boys will cherish for long.
“The car can be controlled through computer using a C++ programme,” said Shaswat. So what’s next? “It took us Rs 1,000 to make this car. We need a bigger investment for building a bigger car!”
