Scribes observe black day

MEMBERS OF Gorakhpur Journalist Association observed black day and staged dharna at Townhall crossing today to register protest against the insensitive attitude of the administration over the assault on journalists by GDA officials on August 23. They threatened to step up their agitation.

MEMBERS OF Gorakhpur Journalist Association observed black day and staged dharna at Townhall crossing today to register protest against the insensitive attitude of the administration over the assault on journalists by GDA officials on August 23. They threatened to step up their agitation. Meanwhile, GDA vice-chairman Ravi Prakash Arora regretted the incident and appealed to the journalists to cooperate with the GDA officials. Presiding over the dharna, president of the association Ratnaker Singh said that on the fateful day GDA employees did everything to terrorise the journalists.

They even brandished arms in their office which was highly condemnable. He expressed satisfaction that people had come out in support of journalists.

Former president of Press Club Anand Rai warned that journalists’ tolerance should not be treated as their weakness by district officials.
