SDM tries to commit suicide

A Sub-District Magistrate today allegedly tried to commit suicide by shooting himself with his revolver at his residence in Officers' Colony, police said.

SDM of Mat Tahsil, 55-year-old Rajeev Gupta, native of Muzaffarnagar, shot himself on Saturday morning, they said.

Gupta has been admitted to Kamayani Hospital, Agra, SP City Ram Lal Verma said.

"His condition is stable. Arrangements are being made by Superintendent of Kamayani Hospital, Agra, to take out the bullet from his body," City Magistrate Manoj Kumar said.

Police is trying to ascertain the reason behind taking the extreme step.
