Semester standoff still on

Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Deepak Pental on Tuesday met the members of the Academic Council (AC) of the university to resolve the ongoing difference on implementation of the semester system, reports HT correspondent.

Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Deepak Pental on Tuesday met the members of the Academic Council (AC) of the university to resolve the ongoing difference on implementation of the semester system.

However, the standoff continued as the VC refused to review his decision of implementing the semester system in the 12 science courses, which was passed in the May 13 meeting of the Academic Council. The VC asked the members to help implement the semester system instead.

“We are very disappointed with the out come of the meeting. The VC did not listen to our demands and instead asked us to contribute in the implementation of semester system,” said J Khuntia, an AC member.

The VC had invited the agitating members of the AC who were on a sit-in protest at the office of the VC since May 13 for talks and suspend their agitation. The members on Tuesday had suspended their five-day long protest to attend the meeting.
