In a joint statement issued in Srinagar on Monday, PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and party president Mehbooba Mufti described the attack as an 'act of frustration' of the elements inimical to peace.

They said such attacks on innocent civilians were 'inhuman' and designed at fomenting emotional flare-up in the Jammu region.

These elements do not want normalcy to return to the state and have again resorted to violent methods to derail the peace process, the two leaders added.

They appealed to the people of the Jammu region to maintain calm and asked all the political parties to launch a united fight against the elements inimical to peace.

The PDP leaders said a misadventure by any political party at this crucial juncture could reverse the gains of the peace process and plunge Jammu and Kashmir into a chaotic situation again.
