A case of sexual harassment of female inmates at a Ghaziabad ashram has come to light after a television channel's sting operation.

Swami Balnath, the head of the Swami Balnath Special School for Spastics and Hearing Impaired sexually, abused the children for a long time, the channel claimed.

Members of STOP, an NGO, and a team of Central Industrial Security Force, reached the ashram around 4 pm and started recording statements of the inmates.

According to the reports, at least three girls alleged that they were sexually abused by Swami Balnath.

SP (City) Govind Aggarwal and Additional District Magistrate (City) RK Singh were among senior officials of the district administration and the police who reached the spot as news of the sting spread.

Statements of the inmates took place in the ashram compound and no outsiders were allowed. The investigation continued till 9 pm.

However, local police say no formal complaint was given either by the television channel or the NGO.

"The police investigations in the case will only start on Friday. We have deputed a woman sub-inspector and woman constables for the security of the inmates at the ashram," said Atul Srivastava, Circle Officer (I).
