Shakira denies marriage reports
Colombian singer Shakira has rubbished rumours that she was preparing her wedding with her Argentine boyfriend Antonio De la Rua, Spain's EFE news agency reported from the Uruguay capital here Monday.
"The thing about marriage is something I learned in the press. I hope that if I get married, at least they'll send me an invitation," the singer said in an interview with Uruguay's El Pais newspaper.
The Hips Don't Lie singer, however, admitted that she "fantasises" about being happy at his side for many years and having children by him.
"When somebody is 15, she dreams of putting on a white dress and walking to the altar. When you're 31, you see different things," the singer said.
Shakira, the two-time Grammy winner, arrived in Uruguay Saturday from Miami and went to her rural estate, known as "La Colorada" in Maldonado province near the Punta del Este resort.
In recent weeks, several domestic and foreign media outlets speculated that Shakira was organising her wedding to De la Rua, and it was mentioned that the supposed nuptials would be in Uruguay.
Antonio De la Rua is currently in New York, where he is attending to business, but next week he is scheduled to arrive in Uruguay to visit his girlfriend.
