Former Chief Minster of the state and the Union Minister Shanta Kumar, who is contesting on the Bharatiya Janata Party ticket from the Kangra constituency, is among the three BJP candidates renominated by the party along with Maheshwar Singh and Suresh Chandel from Mandi and Hamirpur.

He was twice the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh and elected to the Parliament for three terms. If he succeeds, this will be his fourth term to the lower house of the Parliament.
