Given his cricketing pedigree, it is not surprising that Pollock has earned a reputation as one of the best all-rounders in the world.

Son of former South African fast bowler Peter and nephew of left-handed great Graeme Pollock, Pollock made his international debut in 1995/96 and has since proved indispensable as both a batsman and a bowler.

His graceful skill with a bat is matched with an amazing ability to bowl a tight line with aggression and swing the ball both ways but he desperately needs good new-ball support on the other end. Perhaps the straightest bowler in world cricket at present, Pollock is able to move the ball both ways at a lively pace.

The KwaZulu-Natal player averages around 23 with the ball and has taken 11 four-wicket hauls in his One-Day International career, including six for 35 his best figures.

After the nightmarish 2003 World Cup, Pollock was sacked as captain but still spearheads the South African bowling attack.
