The demonstrators, led by divisional president of Sena, Ajay Chaubey, burnt an effigy of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Bilas Rao Deshmukh, at Bhikharipur crossing hereto protest the incident.

The demonstrators rushed to the nearby Manduadeeh railway station of the Eastern Railway and stopped the Varanasi - Allahabad passenger train for an hour, disrupting all train traffic on the route.

Addressing a public meeting here, Chaubey criticised the statement of SP MP from Mumbai, Abu Azmi, for threatening the Shiv Sainiks for dstaging emonstrations in Maharashtra. He alleged that Azmi was investing his money earned through unfair means in Mumbai in construction works in UP.

Additional force was sent to the station. Later, on request of railway authorities, the Sainiks ended the demonstration and allowed the stranded train to go ahead to its destination.
