The minister said there was no funds crunch for development work throughout the state. He also claimed the power scenario in UP was better than that in Delhi, Bihar and Uttaranchal.
He added that the State Government, headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav, was fully committed to safeguarding the interests of the common man. Financial assistance and pension would be given to beneficiaries through special camps in presence of office-bearers and MLAs of the party in the State, he said.
He also said the SP would always fight for the cause of the poor and the downtrodden. He said the party would construct its own office in each district. The minister also laid the foundation stone of a bridge in Baluwa area in Chandauli.
He later flew to Varanasi by helicopter and laid the foundation stone of the Shastri Ghat on Varuna river here in the evening. A modern stage would be also constructed at the ghat, where light and sound shows would be held for tourists and locals. The cost of construction would be Rs 2.78 crore.
Yadav and Minister of State for Forests Virendra Singh addressed a meeting at Shastri Ghat. Yadav also held a meeting with office- bearers of the SP.
