"The Home Minister briefed the Cabinet about the serials blasts," Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters after the meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

His reply came in response to a question whether the Cabinet Committee on Security met to discuss about the serial explosions, which together claimed nearly 60 lives.

On July 25, a string of nine synchronised low-intensity bomb blasts rocked IT hub Bangalore during the busy lunch hour, leaving two killed and injuring over a dozen others.

A day later, a series of explosions rocked Ahmedabad claiming 53 lives and injuring over 140 people.

Twenty-one live bombs were also recovered from Surat city in past few days creating panic among people.
