The district magistrate reviewed the law and order situation on Wednesday and said the district administration was committed to conducting a peaceful election.
Agrawal warned police station officers would be held responsible for any violence in their respective areas during polling. “Action will be taken against them,” he said.
He said polling agents could keep voters’ lists with them, but would not be allowed to take these outside the polling centres.
He added that polling agents would not be allowed to talk to voters or carry cellphones on the day of polling.
He said voters with valid identity cards could exercise their franchise.
The district magistrate directed the police officers and magistrates to conduct random checking of voters on the polling day here.
He also told polling parties not to accept hospitality from outsiders.
The district magistrate said political parties and candidates would be allowed to set up their tables within 200 metres of the polling centres.
He added no electioneering material would be allowed in the vicinity of the centres.
The district magistrate also said government security guards, provided to any person, would not be allowed to enter into polling stations.
Additional district magistrate (Administration) Basant Ram Prajapati, ADM (City) Indra Vikram Singh, RP Singh, Anil Pandey, Surendra Mohan Tripathi, Yogesh Srivastav and Amulya Srivastava attended the review meeting.
